John 18:37 "Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."
3. What is God looking for in us?
Exo. 18:21 "Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." 1 Sam.12:24 "Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you." Josh. 24:14 "Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD." 1 John 3:18-19 "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him."
4. How are we to worship God?
John 4:23-24 "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 3:21 "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
5. Can we have the spiritual help to worship God?
John 10:7(NIV) "Therefore Jesus said again, 'I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.'" John 15:26(NIV) "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me;" John 14:17(NIV) "...the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But ye know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." John 16:13(NIV) "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come."
6. How can we lose the truth?
2 Tim. 4:4(NIV) "They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." Titus 1:14 "Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth." 2 Tim. 3:5 "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." 2 Tim. 3:7 "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." Rom. 1:25 "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."
7. What did Christ say to the Jews who believed on Him?
John 8:31-32 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
8. What did Christ say to the Pharisees?
John 8:40,42-47 "But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father, the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."
9. What is the fate of those who won't believe the truth?
2 Thess. 2:10-12 "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." Heb. 10:26-27 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."
10. What did the Apostle John say to the loyal members of God's Church at the time of apostasy?
2 John 1-4 "The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father." 3 John 1, "The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth." 3 John 3-4 "For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." 3 John 8 "We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth." 3 John 12 "Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true."
11. How can we stay in the truth?
Eph. 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ." Eph. 4:21, 23-25 "If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another." 1 Cor. 13:6 "Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;" 2 Cor. 6:7 "By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left." 1 John 4:6 "We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."
12. What was Christ's prayer for us?
John 17:14-15 "I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil." John 17:17 "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." John 17:19-20 "And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;" John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:17 "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
