                                                                                                                     James Russell, Elder</div> <bR> <div> To God's scattered Brethren,</div> <bR> <div> Thank you for your letters, e-mails and phone calls with so many positive comments about the articles in the "Prove All Things."  The writers are volunteers and freely contribute their time and effort.  The Church of God, In Truth, also appreciates all those readers out there on the front lines, witnessing for God's<B> truth </B>and not backing down from the responsibility God gave Isaiah to pass along to His church: “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isa 58:1). Isaiah loudly proclaimed the transgressions of Judah, just as the Church of God, In Truth, is doing today.  In Isaiah's day as well as ours, the transgression of Judah's teachings are still polluting God's Churches.  This was brought to your attention in the last “Prove All Things” elders letter.  </div> <div>      Isaiah early in his book writes, When you spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you: yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.   Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before Mine eyes; cease to do evil” (Isa 1:15-16).    The formalities of religion mean nothing when God's true Holy Spirit is lacking, even prayer is an abomination to Him.   “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination” (Prov 28:9).</div> <div>      Isaiah was speaking to a group of people who were <B>outwardly</B> very religious.  They engaged in the ceremonies of religion because they thought this would earn favor with God.  But the Lord informed them that He was highly displeased with their course of action, He hated the observance of their appointed feasts, so He rejected their worship and resented their hypocritical pretense.  They were actually defying God by refusing to walk in His ways to “Prove All things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thess. 5:21).</div> <div>      Today, too many that have been called, but not yet chosen, are like the story we read of in the book of Luke.  “Now it came to pass, as they went, that He entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house.  And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard His word.  But Martha was cumbered about much serving [doing a “work”!], and came to Him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?  Bid her therefore that she help me.  And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:38-42).  <B>Martha was so busy doing a “work,” she would not take time to listen to Jesus Christ, message</B>!       This same scenario is going on today.  Some say, “Yes, I have a stack of evidence about the postponements sitting on my desk, and in my drawer but I have been so busy [doing a work], I've just not had time to find out what Christ has to say about postponing His annual Holy Days, so I will just keep teaching and practicing Christian-Judaism [syncretism]!  If the Pharisees taught it, then I will do it.”  “He [Christ] answered and said unto them [Pharisees], `Well hath Esaias [Isaiah] prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written,...'”  [What did Isaiah write about them?  “Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto Me; the new moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts My soul hateth: they are a trouble unto Me; I am weary to bear them” (Isa 1:13-14)].  Christ continued telling the Pharisees:  “This people honoureth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.  Howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.  For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do.  And He said unto them, full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition” (Mark 7:6-9).</div> <div>      It is <B>man's traditions </B>that have corrupted God's doctrine and wealth has corrupted the practice of honesty!  It is scary, when in the New Testament, the letters of the Greek word “<B>cuporia</B>,” from which the word “<B>wealth</B>” is translated, totals <B>666</B>.  Out of all the two thousand Greek nouns in the New Testament, there is only one other word that has this numerical value, the word “<B>paradosis</B>,” translated “<B>tradition</B>!” (Acts 19:25; Matt.15:2-3). Some Churches of God today will not give up the “doctrine of traditions of man,” because they will lose the <B>wealth</B> that comes from following these traditions!</div> <div>      Brethren, finding where God's truth is being taught is hard, but when you find it, it is like a “pearl of great price.”  This priceless pearl represents those who have earnestly desired truth.  Christ told His disciples, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it” (Matt. 13:45-46).  Why? because of its transcendent value!  In harmony with this “Pearl of great price,” is Jesus Christ. With the pearl, it was it's perfect size, shape and luster that made it of value.  With Jesus Christ, the value is in the perfection of character and His out flowing love, out going concern and the sacrificing of His priceless life for all of mankind.</div> <div>      As Passover, the covenant sacrifice that memorializes the death of Christ and the Days of Unleavened Bread approach, we need to understand the importance of coming under the umbrella of Christ's shed blood and the eating of His sacrificed body, at its <B>appointed time</B>!  If you miss taking Passover by one day or by one month, you are not “drinking and eating from the Lord's table.”  “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy?  Are we stronger than He?  I speak as to wise men; judge you what I say” (I Cor. 10:21-22,15).  The Pharisees were told by Christ, “You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44).  </div> <div>      Had the Israelites in Egypt not followed the Lord's instructions given to Moses, and <B>not</B> put blood from the sacrificial lamb on the door posts of their homes, <B>at the appointed time</B>, they would have come out of Egypt without their first born!  </div> <div>      If you miss taking Passover at the <B>appointed time</B>, it will cause you to miss the first and last day of Unleavened Bread, that is a sign of God's people!  (You will also miss the appointed time of <B>all</B> the other of God's Holy Days!)  “And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.  This day came you out in the month Abib.  And <B>it shall be a sign unto thee </B>upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.  Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season [<B>appointed time</B>] from year to year” (Exo. 13:3-4,9-10). </div> <div>      We are told by Moses what will happen to those that know to keep Passover on the right day and don't!  “If a man is clean and in a journey, and does not keep the Passover, he shall be cut off from among his people, and because they did not keep it in the appointed season [on the right day], that man shall bear his own sin.  But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin” (Num 9:13).</div> <div>      The Good News Bible makes this passage very clear: “But anyone who is ritually clean and not away on a journey and who does not observe the Passover, shall no longer be considered one of My people, because he did not present the offering to me at the appointed time.  He must suffer the <B>consequences of his sins</B>.” If we do not keep the Passover at its appointed time,  we will not be considered one of God's people.  This verse also tells us that we must suffer the consequences of our sin.  What does that mean?  The Webster's Dictionary say, “consequences” means: “something produced by a cause.”  The Holy Days are a part of God's law.   They are God's set of conditions that we must follow. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 6:23).  Another way of putting this is: “THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN IS DEATH!”</div> <div>      Why am I bring this to our attention?  Because this year, 2005, and the year 2008, Passover and <B>all</B> the Holy Days will be held one month late by those who follow the set  Jewish Hebrew Calendar.  The question before us is, “WHY will the Holy Days be one month late?   The answer according to the “Encyclopedia Judaica” Vol 5, C-DH is: “<I>Hillel II set the order of the leap years in 358/359 AD.”</I>  Arthur Spier, in his “Comprehensive Hebrew Calendar, copyright 1986, page 2, states, “<I>Hillel II formally sanctified all months in advance, and intercalated all future leap years until such time as a new recognized Sanhedrin would be established in Israel.  This is the permanent calendar according to which the new moons and festivals are calculated and celebrated today by the Jews all over the world,</I>”  I  recommend you read the article titled “Why Is Pesach So Late This Year, 1997?” in the special new Prove All Things “Calendar issue” on page 54.   The leap years set by Hillel II, do not follow God's natural leap years according to His  new moon that was created in the beginning!  </div> <div>      We find written in Hosea “Hear you this, O priests; and hearken, you house of Israel; and give you ear,   They [Israel]  shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.  They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: <B>now shall a month devour them with their portions</B>.   The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.”  ( Hosea 5:1,6-7,10 ).  Hosea plainly tells us they go to seek the Lord with their flocks.  These churches go with their people to find the Lord, but they do not find Him.  Why?  Because the Lord has hid Himself from them.  Verse 6 says, “Now shall a MONTH devour them with their portions.”  The “SDA Bible Commentary” states: “<I>Now shall a month devour them.  Some have suggested that this implies that only a short time remains before the destruction of the kingdom.  According to the alternative translation of the RSV, “now the new moon shall devour them,” the meaning is conveyed that their sacrificial feasts celebrated at that season will not save them from divine wrath.  The whole chapter is a record of the people's substitution of idol worship for the worship of God, and this passage may thus be an allusion to the substitution of a different month for the Lord's appointed month for religious worship, which substitution had been forced upon the nation by Jeroboam I (I Kings 12:33).” </I></div> <div>      The word “month” used here is #2320 which means: “NEW MOON or NEW MONTH.”  According to Hillel II, 2005 is an interculated “leap year,” and it is this <B>wrongly</B> added NEW MOON that will cause anyone using the Jewish Hebrew calendar for 2005, to keep Passover one month late this year!  This interculated month will “devour” these people.  What does this mean?  The word “devour” is #398, meaning: “to burn up; consume.”  In other words, this means they will be cut off, or simply lose their portions.  The word “portions” is #2506, meaning, “inheritance.”  So they will lose their inheritance.  If we do not keep Passover on the right day, this wrongly added month will cause us to lose our inheritance.  That is our eternal life!  If we knowingly observe the postponements and as a result, do not keep Passover and all of God's Holy Days on the right day in any year we could lose our eternal life!!</div> <div>      Jesus Christ became our Passover lamb on the 14th day of the first month, on God's calendar.  Christ instituted the new symbols of the Passover on the night He was betrayed and crucified!</div> <div>      <B>Drinking the blood and eating of Jesus Christ is the seal of the New Covenant!!</B></div> <div> “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoso eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:53-54).  </div> <div>      God has always used His sign to identify His people and only now, does spiritual Israel truly have this sign.  We need to recognize how God knew the firstborn of Israel in Egypt -  who was protected and who was not?  How will God know which ones will be protected in this end time?  <B>By partaking of the Passover at its true appointed time!! </B></div> <div>      It has become clear that the remnant of Revelation 12:17 are those who take the Passover on the wrong day or month.  They do not come under the protection of the blood of Jesus Christ!  They are going to have to go through the tribulation to make their robes white.  They will have to learn to obey God first - not the traditions of men!!</div> <div>      Passover in 2005 according to God's time clock in the sky will be <B>March 23rd</B>!</div> <bR> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> In Christian love,</div> <bR> <div> Church of God, In Truth</div> <div>     P.O. Issue of the “Prove All Things” on page 20 is a statement that is not correct.  The 4<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Times New Roman" >th</FONT> </div> <div> paragraph down says: “<I>In the years that have 13 new moons, Abib 1 is the new moon on or after the spring turn [equinox].”    </I><B>This is not a true statement. </B></div> <bR> <bR> <div>      To establish the year you must individually count the moons and if Passover is not on or after the spring turn [equinox] then you must add a 13<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Times New Roman" >th</FONT> month, which would be considered a leap year.   Passover must be on or after the spring turn [equinox].  2006 will have a leap month 13<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Times New Roman" >th</FONT> new moon and be a leap year.   Abib 1 will be March 29, 2006.</div> <bR> <bR> <bR> <bR> <bR> <div>   </div> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
